Waukesha® Transformers

Waukesha Electric Systems currently manufactures power transformers from 5 to 200 MVA (with specialty designs top-rated to 420 MVA), up to 345kV. We recently announced an expansion to our Wisconsin facility in order to extend our ability to manufacture larger, higher voltage units. Upon completion (estimated for fourth quarter 2011), we will have a dedicated 140,000 square feet of manufacturing space just for large power transformer production and testing and begin building larger MVA units up to 345kV with future potential up to 765kV.

Our modern transformer manufacturing operations utilize sophisticated computer-controlled equipment and test systems, complemented by a well-trained, experienced work force to produce high quality power transformers that meet stringent customer demands. Waukesha Electric Systems also has one of the shortest production cycles in the industry, which allows the Waukesha team to respond quickly to customer delivery and installation requirements.

* Waukesha, Wisconsin Manufacturing Facility — 292,000 sq ft:

To meet growing industry needs, a $30 million expansion was completed at the company’s headquarters and manufacturing facility in Waukesha, WI in October 2001. This project increased manufacturing and testing space including increased crane capacity, additional vapor phase equipment and a large sound test chamber. The plant was again upgraded in 2009 to support the production of larger base-rated power transformers, and a $70 million expansion was recently announced that will allow this facility to manufacture units with a power rating over 1000 MVA. An additional 35,000 sq. ft. facility in Waukesha, WI is dedicated to Research and Development where we focus on the development of innovative new products, the continuous improvement of processes and maintaining the company’s reputation for quality and technology leadership.

* Goldsboro, North Carolina Manufacturing Facility — 160,000 sq ft:

Waukesha Electric Systems’ Goldsboro transformer manufacturing plant contains state-of-the-art manufacturing and computerized scheduling systems that enable production of medium power transformers that meet the highest industry standards. The engineering team, using 3-D computer-aided design tools, develops innovative designs that meet changing utility and industrial product needs
